Each island is supposed to count once. In this case, 3 islands were reported as being created when only two islands were. The second (a 5 tile island) seemed to be counted twice (as another 4 tile island ... in addition to the other 4 tile already created that turn).
It allowed me to be first in islands, and win the game by one point, so also skewed the result. -

Neither of us noticed the bug at the time, but I became aware when I looked at the replay.
