At move #42 (and move #50 later in the game) I (scramsby) was targeted for assassination by another player. I had two Contessas in hand. Immediately another player challenged the Assassin, which failed when they revealed an Assassin. At that point I was forced to immediately choose a card to discard, not given the ability to block the assassination with a Contessa. I should have been allowed to block the Assassination (even if I didn't have a Contessa).
