i was just wondering if it would be possible to use (images of) glass pebbles instead of flat color circles? it would make it look more like the physical game.
perhaps a bit like in Azul, with the tiles on the floor.
or just one pebble for each area, with a number in it – just replacing the flat color circle with an image. here are three images you can use, if you want:

also, each area now has a designation, A0, B0, C0 etc. is there a reason for the 0 ? could you skip the 0 and just label them A, B C? -
