When playing a marauder, you can only pillage people with at least 2 cards in their hands. If every opponent got less than 2, you can't take the action, especially with Smoke. There could be a warning message when playing them in this situation.• Quel est votre navigateur ?

Ok, so you would like a warning before playing Smoke if you will be unable to use it ? I think game is passing the action if you can't perform it, but indeed i do not warn players that the action they are preparing will be passed.
That's the hard limit of where is not an hint anymore but the start of a playing computer assist ... I don't know.
